Whited Sepulchre
02:53
|
|||
The order of Bon Secours was sovereign
Their walls a whited sepulchre
Deprivation and misery, in that institution
The building, a vector of disease
Hidden at all costs, malnourished
Intentionally starved, or left untreated
Offender and progeny erased
Illegitimate, unmarked graves.
(They were inspected and categorised
Misgivings were expressed, nothing was done.)
Miserable emaciated child
Not thriving, wasted, wizened limbs
Delicate, distended, potbellied.
‘Various deformities’
(A great many thought it kinder
To strangle these children at birth)
Under a slab they found them
In a disused septic tank
Blessed, resealed and silenced
It was not the work of famine
It was the work of many hands
The order of Bon Secours was sovereign
Their walls a whitewashed tomb,
Bastards bought and sold, in that institution

Esau, the Sin Eater
03:54
|
|||
Gaunt, ghastly, lean, miserably poor
Esau took his place, facing the door
The old funeral custom, a humble final meal
Passed across the corpse, ritual consumption
The question hung in the air,
A lingering miasma
Has he seized the power of death?
Or chosen to bear its consequence?
Absorbed! a plea to ancient forces
Absolved! the virtuous in repose
Esau paid a heavy price, for silver, bread, and ale
To mete out profanity, he pawned his own birth right
No one dared to meet his gaze as he purified the dead
Fearful, damned, wretched, an instrument of dread
The question hung in the air
A lingering miasma
Has he seized the power of death?
Or chosen to bear its consequence?
Absorbed! a forbidden sacrament
Absolved! ensuring his passage to hell
No one dared to meet his gaze as he purified the dead
Fearful, damned, wretched, an instrument of dread
Driven past the threshold once the sacrament was complete
To the ring of incantation, his maple bowl was burned
Condemned to a remote place, bedeviled by the deeds of the dead
Condemned to a remote place, laden with their blackened souls
A penance for his father, and his father before.
A scapegoat. Emissary of death.
Wandering between
the bog and the corpse road.
Somnambulant. He merged
into the shadows, formless as they.
Absorbed! a plea to ancient forces
Absolved! a forbidden sacrament
In thrall to the eternal spectre of death
Whose triumph is absolute. -

Motionless Terror
04:43
|
|||
Born into madness, genetic monstrosity
Disturbingly violent, social deformity
Awoken bloodlust, repugnant atrocity
Appalling and bleak, a gross abnormality
Reeling, not feeling, kneeling, revealing
(Glazed eyes conjure the torture)
Awoken bloodlust, repugnant atrocity
Appalling and bleak, a gross abnormality
Motionless, trapped in terror
Shallow breath, a baneful horror
Habitual defiance, devoid of emotion
Absurdly intent with abhorrent devotion
Reeling, not feeling, kneeling, revealing
Choking, blood soaking, revoking, unspoken
(Deadened nerves twitch no more)
Hideous nature quickly untwines
Perilous, the metallic shine
He’s feverish yet stolid
Tears upon a face so pallid
Blunt force trauma, thrashing around
Blood on the ceiling, flesh on the ground
Stiff, motionless, left in a pile
One vicious bastard, proud to be vile
Blaming, reclaiming, shaming, now flailing
Screaming, blood streaming, redeeming, skin peeling!
